Class Offerings

Summer Offerings

 

During the Summer, UPAC offers summer camps and classes for all ages.

Camps last 1 week and are split into two age groups. Summer classes start in the beginning of June and are based on 5 weeks consisting of 2 lessons per week. Tuition is based on 8 lessons total – 2 free lessons are given to allow for possible illness and/or vacations. Summer classes are not in the recital.

 

Summer Camps

Ages 3 through 5

Princess Camp is created for students ages 3 through 5 desiring to broaden their performing skills. The camp encompasses tap, ballet, jazz, song and dance, tumbling, modeling, arts and crafts. Princess Camps meet Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM with a break for snack. Students are responsible for bringing their own food. Goodie bags and arts and crafts items (e.g. t-shirts, paints, note pads, hats, candy, etc. are included.) On the last day of camp, families and friends are invited to a performance starting at 12:00 PM to watch the new dances
students learned at camp. Dates of camps are posted on the Summer Camp Registration Form located under the documents page.

Ages 6 through 12

Dance Camp is created for students ages 6 through 12 desiring to broaden their performing skills. The camp encompasses tap, ballet, jazz, lyrical, hip-hop, choreography, acrobatics, cheerleading/dance team, acting, arts and crafts. Dance Camps meet Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM with a one hour break for lunch. Students are responsible for bringing their own food. Goodie bags and arts and crafts items (e.g. t-shirts, paints, note pads, hats, candy, etc.) and a Friday night pizza party before the shows are included. On the last day of camp, families and friends are invited to a performance starting at 5:00 PM to watch the new dances students learned at camp. Dates of camps are posted on the Summer Camp Registration Form located under the documents page.

 

 

Summer Classes

Pre-school Combination
Ages 3 to 5

A program involving tap, pre-ballet, rhythm training, personality movements and tumbling. This class is designed to develop coordination, grace, and flexibility for the very young.

Introduction to Dance
Ages 6 to 8

A beginning program involving tap, ballet and jazz that introduces the young child to the various forms of dance.

Classical Ballet
Ages 6 and older

A program directed towards developing grace, poise, and discipline through ballet technique. When female students develop sufficient skill and strength, pointe work is added to the instruction. Course is offered for beginner through advanced levels.

Pointe
Requires prior ballet experience and teacher approval

A special program designed for advanced ballet students who learn ballet techniques associated with body alignment, feet placement, and body strength while also learning how to dance graciously on the tips of fully extended feet.

Tap
Ages 7 and older

A program concentrating on rhythm and tap technique. This course is offered for beginning through advanced levels.

Jazz
Ages 7 and older

A program that encompasses dance as seen on stage, in movies and musical productions. Course is offered for beginner through advanced levels.

Hip-Hop
Ages 7 and older

A program that encompasses dance as seen in movies and music videos utilizing popular music. Course is offered for beginner through advanced levels.

Acrobatics
Ages 7 and older

A gymnastics program of extraordinary feats of balance, agility, motor coordination, and flexibility. Acrobatics encompasses floor exercises and tumbling with the aid of mats.

Leaps and Turns
Ages 8 and older

A program concentrated on improving technique and consistency for leaps and turns. Course is offered for intermediate and advanced levels.

Stretch and Tech
Ages 8 and older

A program that teaches stretching techniques and improves flexibility safely and effectively. Course is offered for intermediate and advanced levels.

Adult Physical Fitness
Ages 18 and older

A program designed for lively fun while gaining the benefits of good exercise. Courses include jazz, ballet, and tap.

Fall Classes

 

University Performing Arts Centre offers professional dance instruction for every age. Pre-school classes are 45 minutes. Other classes are 1 hour or 1½ hours.

Fall classes start during August and conclude with a recital in May. UPAC follows the Seminole County Public Schools calendar.

Toddler Creative Movement
Ages 2 to 3

A program designed to begin introducing toddlers to the foundational movements of dance.

Spring Classes

 

In the Spring, UPAC also offers professional dance instruction starting in January and end in May.

Spring classes are not in the recital. Pre-school classes are 45 minutes and other classes are 1 hour.

Other Offerings

 

UPAC also offers a variety of other services, including Studio Rentals, Birthday Parties, and a chance for Mom & Dad to have a night out!

UPAC is over 9,000 square feet with a reception room, a break room, an elevator, 5 dance rooms, and 2 bathroom sets. UPAC’s facility is available for rent at an hourly rate:

  • $35/hour for our studios approximately 30×40 ft.
  • $25/hour for our studios approximately 25×35 ft.
  • $10 fee for setup and breakdown.

ALL rooms included raised floors, wall-to-wall mirrors, full stereo system, and air conditioning. For more information on studio rentals, please email us at desk@upacdance.com.

UPAC offers Birthday parties with a variety of different packages to make each party memorable. All supplies are included except cake, juice boxes, and friends! Each party is scheduled for approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. The child gets to choose from two different themes: Little Ballerina or Hip-Hop Diva.

The party will include a structured 45 minute dance class that consists of warm-up and a choreographed dance routine. Once the dance routine is complete, the child and friends will have the opportunity to raid our costume closet for a special performance where we welcome all parents to watch. During some months, UPAC offers a service called “Mom & Dad’s Night Out” which is a fundraising program for the UPAC Competitive Companies. Parents drop off their child/children at 5:00 PM at the dance studio and pick up their child/children at 10:00 PM. The night includes pizza, movies, games, and dancing. Supervision is provided with one adult and high school helpers that are part of UPAC’s Competitive Companies. Children can be of all ages and do not need to be enrolled at any class at UPAC. The price is $15 per child.
